What is your name?

Tom Brown


Can you introduce yourself?

Newest member of the Engineering Team with 6 years of IT Support and Software Development Experience spanning from small/medium sized businesses to large multinational corporations.


What's your day-to-day like at Dental IT?

Making sure backend systems are running correctly, diagnosing faults, building servers/workstations and providing technical support to customers.


What makes working in the dental industry challenging?

Learning how all the different Dental systems and hardware works.


What has been the highlight during your time at Dental IT?

Being able to film footage for the website using my Drone, it was really fun to do.


What’s the best thing about working at Dental IT?

The team and the flexable approach to working.


Who is your favourite customer and why?

Gary, Share a Smile because he is always so positive and friendly.


What has been the hardest thing to learn in your role?

All the passwords, there is a lot of them to remember.


What do you like about working in Sheffield and Hathersage?

I love the Sheffield office as it is easy to get to and the Hathersage office is beautiful.


What do you like to do in your spare time?

Going to the Cinema with friends (Pre-pandemic), Looking after my Aquarium, Playing video games, Watching TV and spending time with Family.


What's the most exciting technology you work with?

Has to be aircraft technology.


What's the funniest query/problem you have had on the helpdesk?

Convincing a site that their fantastic new WAP wasn't yet plugged in.


What's the hardest problem you have had to work on?

Getting Veeam to install on a server it refused to because of missing SQL components.


What's the longest night you have ever worked and why?

Past midnight for a server migration.


And finally, tell us something about you that we might not know?

I have nearly completed my training to earn my Private Pilot's Licence.
