Cabling and Infrastructure

Our cabling and network infrastructure services are of the highest quality and designed with complete appreciation of the needs of today’s modern dental practices.

We ensure:

  • Evening and weekend installation to avoid disruption to your business.
  • Professional, tidy installation to industry standards.
  • All points FLUKE tested to ensure network integrity and performance.
  • All points are clearly labelled
  • Future proofing for converged IP and other services.

We install CAT5e and CAT6 cabling infrastructure. All new installations are fitted with a comms cabinet (or server cabinet), patch panel and faceplates. All cabling is routed out of site where possible, or hidden in white trunking. We recommend that consideration is given to future expansion, current and future digital radiography, digital imaging, Internet connectivity, surveillance, telephony and audio/video requirements. Most of these services now use CAT5e, and it is usually more cost effective and less disruptive to “flood wire”, and so future proof as much as possible.

Wireless Technology

We will happily install a wireless network, but would first speak to you about the following points … Wireless networks are not as predictable, or as robust as wired networks, and tend not to be suitable for businesses where reliability is paramount. Furthermore, the bandwidth across wireless networks is usually less than wired, so performance will suffer – this gets worse the further your device is from the wireless access point (radio). Although wireless networks can work “through walls”, the best wireless networks actually have a wired infrastructure “backbone”, with wireless access points in each room. This creates a highly reliable wireless network; however, in most small to medium sized businesses, it is simpler and more cost effective to deploy an entirely wired network.

Working with Third Party Network Cablers

Cabling may also be carried out by another contractor; for example, in new build properties, it can be more cost effective for the customer to order the network cabling through the builder, who is also supplying the electrical points and other services. Where this is the case, Dental IT Limited would ask to be involved in specifying the number of points, and planning their locations.
