This busy, 4 surgery mixed NHS and private practice, had been using Dentsys Paragon for some time, but without the appointment book or clinical records. They recently decided to migrate their DPMS from Dentsys Paragon, to SoE EXact, and approached Dental IT Limited for their hardware and infrastructure requirements.
The current DPMS was front of house only, and it was necessary to create an entirely new network infrastructure on which SoE EXact would operate. In addition, the practice required wall mounted second monitors in each of the surgeries, a POS (point of sale) electronic till and receipt system to integrate with EXact, a new dedicated server, and well specified printers, scanners, and a label printer for reminders.
Our cabling engineers introduced CAT5 cabling throughout the practice, to accommodate the new network and systems. A wall mounted comms cabinet was installed in the upstairs office, and all cabling work was carried out over a weekend, to avoid disruption. At the same time, Dental IT Limited fitted second monitors in each of the surgeries, on flexible wall mounts, for patient viewing. All the cabling was hidden and all work was carried out safely and discretely.
A high spec HP Proliant ML370 G5 was used for the server; a full Windows domain was setup, with Microsoft Exchange and all security software. An industrial, secure firewall was installed, and Dental IT Limited handled all the broadband order and setup. For the workstations, Apple iMac hardware was used, reinstalled with Windows XP Professional. These make excellent, modern, minimal surgery workstations, and patients notice and appreciate them as well! Dental IT Limited handled all the workstation configuration, and created all the staff accounts, email accounts, and shared areas.
Dental IT Limited migrated the current system onto the new network without a hitch, and rolled out Software of Excellence EXact, in preparation for the configuration by the software company. Dental IT Limited also ensured that the data for the conversion was sent to Software of Excellence, and liaised with them throughout the process.
Dental IT Limited supplied all the printers, and scanners: Colour and mono laser printers on reception, a scanner to handle radiographs, and we also supplied and installed a POS (point of sale) system, as well as label printers for reminders and receipts.
The installation at Eckington Dental Practice overall was extremely smooth and ordered, staff are delighted with the good functioning of the system as a whole, and we have been able to ensure that the migration from their old DPMS to their new system, is as trouble free as possible. The specification is such that Eckington Dental Practice will enjoy trouble-free IT for many years to come.
